About the author

H. John Cooper, MD is a Professor of Orthopedic Surgery specializing in hip and knee reconstruction at Columbia University Irving Medical Center / NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Over a fifteen-year surgical career, he has performed thousands of joint replacements and authored more than 200 peer-reviewed papers on orthopedic surgery and related clinical research.

Cooper’s interest in metabolic health grew directly out of his operating room experience, watching, case after case, how much of what brings a patient to surgery starts with lifestyle rather than anatomy. Five years ago, he began applying that same lesson to his own life, cutting added sugar out of his own diet largely out of curiosity about whether the advice he’d been giving patients for years actually held up. No Added Sugar November is the result: a practical, thirty-day reset built on that same evidence and experience.

He lives in New York with his wife and three children.
